How to split a PDF or extract pages from it
Sometimes you only need one page of a long file: a chapter of a book, one page of a bank statement, or a certificate inside a bundle of documents. Sending the whole file shares information you don’t need to and makes it bigger.
Filezain’s Split PDF extracts the pages you type into a new file, or splits the whole file into separate pages.
When you need it
- Sending one chapter of a book or course notes.
- Pulling a certificate page out of a document bundle.
- Removing pages you don’t want to share (by extracting the rest).
- Splitting a scanned file into separate documents.
Steps
- Open Split PDF and choose your file.
- In the pages box, type the page numbers, for example: 1-3,5,8-10.
- To turn every page into its own file, leave the box empty.
- Press the convert button and download the file or files.
Tips
- A comma separates pages and a dash marks a range: 2-4 means pages 2, 3 and 4.
- Extracted pages keep their original quality — nothing is compressed.
- On an iPhone, when splitting into single pages, tap each page’s download button separately.
- To reorder or delete pages within the same file, Organize / Delete Pages is a better fit.
Common problems and fixes
- The result is empty or pages are missing.
- Make sure the numbers are within the page count and the format is right (like 1-3,5).
- I got lots of files.
- You left the pages box empty, so the file was split into one page per file.
- The file is protected.
- Remove the password first with Unlock PDF.
- The page order changed.
- Pages are extracted in the order you type them; type them in the order you want.
